Winery Lazarus

"Schilcher“ is an Austrian rose wine. It is pressed from special grapes which grow only in a small region of Styria  – the „Schilcherland“. This landscape southwest from the Styrian capital Graz consists of gentle hills and wine gardens and does remind the visitor of Tuscany. The tradition of wine making is a long one and carried on by several families who often combine their winery with inns.

The family Lazarus has been growing and cultivating Schilcher wine – as well as several white wines – for 50 years now. Their winery, restaurant and inn lies in the middle of the Schilcherland and provides a fine view over the beautiful landscape. The Lazarus managed to combine their passion for wine with modern and up-to-date production facilities which gained them a number of prizes for their products.

The wine featured in the Edelweiss Collection is called Herbstkuss – Autumn Kiss. The grapes are picked late in autumn, making sure that they have been kissed by the last warm sunbeams of the year. Its color is a light brick red and it has a sweet taste of maple syrup, berry potpourri and honeydew melon.

Schilcher wine is enjoyed best when young and fresh. It should be served and 6 to 8 degrees Celsius (42.8 to 46.4 degrees Fahrenheit) and goes well with all warm or cold dishes.
